Coming Home: How We Lost Everything, Found Ourselves, and Revived Our Yoga Business
Sometimes the longest way around is the shortest way home.
Hey OMmies,
I’ve been sitting with how to share this story with you for a while now. It’s raw, it’s vulnerable, and it’s absolutely true—and honestly, that’s exactly where the most beautiful transformations begin.
If you’ve ever felt like life completely redirected your path, this one’s for you.
The Rise
Back in 2016, my husband and I took a leap of faith and started our wellness business in Massachusetts. What began as handmade mala bracelets at a Wanderlust festival became something so much more beautiful than we’d ever imagined. We poured our hearts into creating crystal-infused, reiki-charged candles and aromatherapy products—every single item touched by our hands and infused with intention.
By the end of 2017, we opened our yoga studio near Revere Beach, and something magical happened. You showed up. A beautiful yoga community emerged, and as we used to say, “We create the space, and you all do the work!” We weren’t just teaching yoga—we were fostering an environment of love, where everyone could be authentically themselves, regardless of their journey or background.
We were thriving. Growing. Vending at festivals and industry events from Boston to New York, from Maine to West Virginia, from Nantucket to the Berkshires—teaching yoga classes, hosting workshops, creating, and living our mission: Find your journey, find yourself.
In the summer of 2019, we received a beautiful surprise: my husband and I were nominated to become Lululemon Yoga Ambassadors. It felt like a milestone moment—a recognition of our commitment to the community, our integrity in teaching, and the way we were holding space both on and off the mat. Being invited into that circle meant so much to us, not just as business owners, but as people who truly lived and breathed this work.
We had so many hopes for what that ambassadorship could become—collaborations, mentorships, opportunities to uplift others on their wellness path. But as fate would have it, our two-year term happened entirely during the pandemic. The events, the gatherings, the connection—all of it was paused. It was a beautiful honor that ended up being mostly symbolic in practice. Still, it reminded us that the work we were doing mattered. That even in uncertainty, we were seen.
We were even on the verge of expanding. Life felt aligned, purposeful, exactly as it should be.
The Fall
Then 2020 happened.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Massachusetts state restrictions closed us down for over 18 months, we didn’t just lose a business—we lost our identity, our community, our sense of purpose. I remember sitting on our empty studio floor, surrounded by the silence where there used to be laughter and breath and connection, and feeling completely lost.
Have you ever had one of those moments where everything you thought you knew about your life just... shifted? Where the ground beneath your feet suddenly felt uncertain? That was us. We grieved. We questioned everything. We wondered if we’d made a terrible mistake following our hearts in the first place.
The Detour
But here’s what I learned about rock bottom: it gives you a solid foundation to rebuild from.
Like so many others, we thought we had to completely reinvent ourselves. We went back to school—my husband earned his MBA while I restarted my bachelor’s degree and pushed through to complete my Master’s in Human Resources Management. We landed corporate jobs. We checked all the boxes society tells us equal success.
But here’s the thing about trying to fit into a mold that wasn’t made for you: no matter how hard you try to make it work, your soul knows the difference. Every morning felt like putting on armor instead of coming alive. We thought more education, more credentials, more stability would fix the part of us that felt lost.
It didn’t. Because we weren’t lost—we were just temporarily displaced from where we belonged.
The Return
Here’s what I know now that I didn’t know then: sometimes we have to lose ourselves completely to remember who we really are.
Those years away weren’t punishment—they were preparation. Every skill we learned, every challenge we faced, every moment we felt disconnected from our truth was actually building something inside us. Resilience. Clarity. An unshakable knowing of what matters most.
And what matters most? You. This community. The sacred space we create when we gather with intention. The way we used to scrutinize every detail of our handmade products because we believed everyone deserved clean, natural wellness in their lives. The philosophy we lived by: “Treat your customers as if it’s you in their shoes.” The environment where love wasn’t just welcome—it was the foundation of everything we did.
We never stopped believing in wellness and mindfulness practices. We never stopped knowing that yoga, meditation, and stress reduction techniques shouldn’t be considered niche—they should be accessible to everyone. Our hearts never forgot the feeling of watching someone light one of our intention-infused candles and find a moment of peace in their busy life.
And even now, after everything we’ve learned and lived through, we want to be honest with you:
We’re not perfect. We’re not trying to be set examples.
We’re simply choosing to show up—imperfectly, truthfully, and with open hearts—to offer the same kind of presence, service, and support you’ve come to know from us over the years. Only this time, we’re showing up through a new lens, in a new capacity, with deeper roots and wider wings.
The Revival
So here we are—not just reviving our business, but stepping into the fullest, most authentic version of who we’re meant to be. We’re not the same people who closed those studio doors in 2020, and that’s exactly the point. We’re deeper now. More compassionate. More committed than ever to what you’ve always loved most about us—our realness and our unwavering dedication to creating spaces where equality, love, and authenticity aren’t just buzzwords—they’re lived values.
We’ve always believed that obstacles make for strength and learning, that challenges should be celebrated as much as successes. This journey has only strengthened that belief.
The wellness world is full of perfectly curated feeds and surface-level spirituality. But that’s not real life, is it? Real life is messy and beautiful and full of plot twists. Real life is losing everything and finding the courage to begin again—knowing that every product you create, every space you hold, every person you meet deserves to be treated with the same love and respect you’d want for yourself.
That’s the kind of space we want to create with you—one that embraces your full humanity, honors your process, and celebrates your whole story—not just the highlight reel.
What’s Next
A couple of weeks ago, we shared some news with our beloved OMmies: Seeking OM School of Yoga & Mindfulness is returning. Not with a brick-and-mortar yoga studio this time, but with something even more intentional—immersive yoga experiences, soul-nourishing workshops, and mindfulness retreats that honor what you’ve always loved about our community.
We’re bringing back everything that made our hearts sing together: grounding yoga that connects you to your center, restorative movement that honors what your body needs, sound bath that transports you, live music that moves through you, and Reiki-infused sessions that remind you of your own-self.
But most importantly, we’re returning to what we’ve always done best—creating safe space and authentic connection.
This isn’t about recreating what we had before. It’s about honoring what we’ve learned, integrating who we’ve become, and offering transformational yoga experiences that serve your journey exactly where you are now.
We believe in being grounded in presence while rising in rhythm together.
We believe in creating space for you to be the very best version of yourself—not who you think you should be, but who you authentically are.
